What does it mean to be a CSF Sealbearer (aka graduating gold)? |
Sealbearers are seniors who have earned the highest recognition from Knight High School's chapter of the California Scholarship Federation. A CSF member becomes a Sealbearer with four semesters of membership in CSF, one of which must be using senior year grades. These semesters must be from sophomore, junior, and senior year. Although freshman grades do not count toward the Sealbearer award, freshmen are strongly encouraged to join at the start of second semester to achieve associate membership.
Membership in CSF is NOT automatic! Students must reapply for membership each semester during the designated membership drive.
Sealbearers receive special distinction with a CSF pin and seal on their diploma and transcripts.
In addition, members who have at least three semesters of active membership among the four required to be a Sealbearer are designated as "Active Sealbearers," and receive a gold stole to wear at graduation (beginning with Class of 2021).
Members who have six semesters of full membership and at least three semesters of active membership among the six will be recognized as 100% Sealbearer.
Furthermore, members who have two semesters of associate membership and six semesters of full membership and at least four semesters of active membership among the eight will have the Academic Excellence medal bestowed upon them (beginning with Class of 2022).
To earn active membership, members must accumulate 30 volunteer points over the course of a semester. (See Calendar and Points page.) Members who remain active in CSF for a minimum of 3 semesters will earn the coveted CSF stole.
